The Company
Who We Are
Sativa Sunshine is a Black-owned family business that specializes in the growth and production of cannabis products. Our grow operation is located on twenty acres of family owned land in southern Virginia.
Sativa Sunshine's mission is to provide quality cannabis for the restoration and relaxation of the body. Whether cannabis is used for its CBD, THC, nutritional, or textile properties, Sativa Sunshine aims to produce the highest quality products.

Sativa Sunshine is the brainchild of Charles and Madeline Broadnax, owners. Both are experienced farmers that have grown up cultivating land for crops and gardening. They started the company in 2019.

Meet the Owners
Charles and Madeline
Charles "Kenny" Broadnax
Owner /Chief Operating Officer
Charles is a native son of Virginia that was raised on the land that Sativa Sunshine calls home. He is a decorated Army and Navy veteran who retired from the US Postal Service.
The injuries he received while in the service of his country have been much relieved by the use of medical cannabis. Charles knows the positive effect that medical cannabis has on those suffering from PTSD as well as the power cannabis has to relieve back pain.

For Charles, this is the opportunity to restore ancestral land to its former glory, and to work in an industry with unlimited growth potential.

Madeline D. Broadnax
Owner/ Chief Administrative Officer

Madeline, a former English teacher, was raised in rural Maryland. Her retail experience spanned the distance between cashiering and an office management before entering the field of education. As an educator, she operated her own daycare for preschool children, worked with 1st generation college students as an Academic Writing Coach, and taught English to teenagers.
The restrictive and sedentary life of a teacher became counterintuitive to her health, and she left her position as an English teacher. The return to a more agricultural life is essential to her mobility and maturing health

For Madeline, Sativa Sunshine gives her the platform to educate others about the varied uses of the cannabis plant while expanding her horticultural knowledge, and utilizing her administrative skills.

Family and Investors
Silent Partners
Profit sharing is the way that Sativa Sunshine encourages family and community to share in the wealth potential of the cannabis industry.

While investors are important to every business, family comes first. For that reason, Sativa Sunshine offers family members the opportunity to invest first. However, we have reserved a 20% profit share opportunity for non-family investors.

The non-family profit share opportunity will begin June 2021 on a first come first served basis. Investors invest a preset amount of money to receive a percentage of the annual profits. The profit share contract cannot be sold, but may be perpetually inherited within the original investors family. We believe in encouraging habits that create generational wealth.

Our profit sharing program for nonfamily members begins June 2021.

Hemp is grown outdoors like most crops. It is grown for Cannabinoid (CBD). CBD does not produce the Psychoactive compound that gives individuals a high sensation. Hemp and hemp oil are used in medicinal and cosmetic preparations. Like linen, it can be used for textiles.

At present, it is illegal to grow marijuana in Virginia and Maryland. We stay abreast of all laws, and anticipate the legalization of marijuana for both recreational as well as medicinal use over the next 5 years in both states. We are acquiring property in Washington DC. While our DC location will first serve as a research facility, as DC law evolves - so will Sativa Sunshine.
